MONEY TALKS đź’¸
Do you realize how the heading of this can be interpreted in two different ways? It can either be a situation where money speaks to someone or a conversation between people with money being the subject. Perspective matters, yeah? A sad truth is that SpongeBob’s life isn’t real and a conversation between the Benjamin$ and Mr Krabs never happens. So we’re stuck with the other statement being true- money talks is a conversation about money between people.

How a person spends their money isn’t entirely attributed to their actual needs. Other factors such as peer, location, family background and society are also sprinkled into the mix. Hence we have wants disguised as needs. You might want to stop reading but stick around for a minute, just one minute.

What’s the probability of your mom buying a shoe because a lady she holds in esteem wore a similar one on Sunday? Thanks for coming back, there’s a stool in the left corner.

There’s a theory which proposes that people look to what others do in order to guide their own behaviours. One conclusion, out of several which can be deduced, is that some of your next “essential” needs will be closely tied to people you observe closely, associate with or reference.
Yes, Peter. There’s a reason you’re getting those kicks you saw in that video and claiming you need them.

This theory shouldn’t be construed and misaligned to just negatives. In fact, a lot of good can come out of this. Ever had a conversation with your friend on how to save more money and what money-growing techniques or platforms work best? Majority of people have extensively talked with their friends about money woes and this isn’t bad at all.

The dare is to take this conversation up a notch. Add in money goals, saving habits, money plans and growth techniques. Having money talks with people you value should definitely involve the highs and lows of money and they should happen frequently.

Question time; Dear Odufa, why are you like this? Why should I talk about my money plans with people? Are you trying to invite my village people to sleep on my account? Ask again after answering these three questions
• Are these people you value?
• Do you want them to be better persons?
•Do you want to be a better person?

Sifting through a sea of information to get the best for you is essential in achieving optimum results. There’s so much useful information these days that you only have to be willing to find what you need to actually find it. Having money talks with your friends also pulls you out of the solo train- thinking you’re the only one with money woes, and showing you alternative options to handle money efficiently. Chances are you mirror some of the good behaviour and apply it in your personal life.

A pact today is for you to start having money talks with your friends. Start small, grow big and dive deeper into it.

Until the next money episode, love and light, Sugar!
